Five (Real) Guys

(Representative of hundreds who need a safe, stable home)

We, the founders of Our Homestead, are parents of five adult sons with developmental disabilities. We, like all parents, want to live long enough to make sure our loved ones are well established in a safe home where they can live their best lives. Our Homestead’s Mission and Goals represent the needs of literally hundreds of other families in New Hampshire sharing this same need for housing.

Our Homestead is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit created to develop housing for our five guys and their peers. We are asking for your help to make this happen by supporting our mission on Giving Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

Because New Hampshire currently has limited options for adults with developmental disabilities, Our Homestead is following the lead of other parent groups who have partnered with their community to create housing that meets the long-term needs of this vulnerable population. Our Homestead represents hope for the many adult sons and daughters with disabilities who presently reside with their families or are in short-term care as they wait for stable long-term housing where they can age in place. Without additional housing, our family members and their peers are at high risk for homelessness. Our goal is to build a residence where each person has their own space with a shared community area, thus providing a safe environment in which they can enjoy independence and friendships within their community.

The need is urgent and we are excited to be at the point that we can begin to fund raise and to start to look at potential land on which to build or that has an existing structure that can be renovated to provide needed housing. The cost to build or renovate is significant. We ask for your help and that you share our mission with those you know who have a heart to help. No gift is too small or, of course, too large! Please follow this link and help us provide the homes needed for those who wait.

Life Encounters of a
Family Navigating Autism

Navigating autism is not a straight path, nor is there a ‘road map’. It’s a winding road of trials, advocacy, discovery, and resilience. Families become translators of their child’s needs, architects of safe spaces, and champions of inclusion. Along the way, they encounter people who listen, neighbors who care, and communities that step up to help meet very real needs.
